Daily App Store Report 2026-09-01
Today, 2026-09-01, all 468 charts were collected and comparisons with the previous run succeeded for all 468/468, with zero missing data. The biggest discovery was simultaneous multi-country expansion among developer tools and paid utilities: Speech to Text : Voice to Text appeared on ios-social-networking/paid in all six markets on the same day (HR #42–US #74), while Microsoft Teams also appeared simultaneously in four markets on overall/free (including US #28).
1. New Entrants
Today's strongest signal is not a single-market event, but a simultaneous appearance in six markets. Speech to Text : Voice to Text entered ios-social-networking/paid across DE/GB/HR/JP/KR/US at once, ranging from a high of HR #42 to a low of US #74. Microsoft Teams entered overall/free in four markets—US #28, DE #45, GB #62, and HR #90—while How To Catch a Fish Simulator entered ios-games/paid in four markets: DE #29, GB #42, US #43, and JP #93. At the very top, several paid apps debuted at or near #1: Cruiseman's Garage - The App at US #1/HR #2/GB #12, and Pocket Wiki for Terraria at HR #1/DE #24/US #71.
2. Sharp Gains vs. Baseline
The baseline date is 2026-08-24—just eight days ago (the earliest date in the archive, so there is not yet a full month of data). The largest gain was 風水診断: 玄空飛星風水 at JP ios-lifestyle/paid #4 (+92), followed by a cluster of paid US finance apps: CalcTape at #12 (+83), HomeBudget with Sync at #11 (+80), and Mortgage Calculator Pro at #23 (+74). In Japan, SDガンダム ジージェネレーション エターナル reached #16 (+76) on overall/grossing; meanwhile, ドラゴンボールZ ドッカンバトル, absent on the baseline date, is now #1 on both ios-games/grossing and overall/grossing.
3. By Tier
The higher the tier, the more stable it is. top(1–10) was 84% held, 2% new, with an average movement of 2.9; mid(11–50) was 80% held, 7% new, and 7.2; bottom(51–100) was 69% held, 19% new, and 10.2. Nearly all of the action is in the lower tier. In top-tier slot occupancy, Google stands out with 98 slots, followed by Guild of Master Craftsman with 28 and AMZN Mobile with 24.
4. By Country
All 78 charts were comparable in each of the six markets. New entries were most numerous in HR (1029), DE (1023), and US (1020), while KR had the fewest at 726. Top-10 retention was highest in the US at 87% and KR at 85%; JP saw the most turnover at 82%. Common hits included TestFlight, Duolingo(education/grossing), and Minecraft, all of which were top-10 in all six markets. In contrast, 로그W: 리메인즈 오브 갓 (KR #1) and Instant Pot Recipes, offline (JP #1) were local-market specific.
5. By Category
The categories with the most new entries were ios-education (352), ios-utilities (344), and ios-music (332). The most stable top-10 categories were ios-social-networking at 90% and ios-books at 89%; the least stable were ios-sports at 79% (where RED+ Sport Live Streaming debuted at HR grossing #1) and ios-business at 80%.
Key Findings
1. Speech to Text : Voice to Text appeared on ios-social-networking/paid in all six markets on the same day
This was the only case to debut on the same chart—paid ios-social-networking—on the same day across every target market: DE/GB/HR/JP/KR/US. Its ranks fell within a tight #42–#74 band: HR #42, GB #50, DE #58, JP #64, KR #67, and US #74. That makes it more likely to be cross-market inflow than a single-market trend. It should be the highest-priority item to track as a sign of simultaneous paid demand for voice-to-text tools across all markets.
Confidence: High
2. Microsoft Teams appeared on overall/free in four markets at once (US #28 was highest)
It debuted on the most competitive chart, overall/free, on the same day at US #28, DE #45, GB #62, and HR #90. Overall charts are relatively stable overall, with 81% top-10 retention, but established major apps returning to overall/free suggests a seasonal factor such as back-to-school or the resumption of work at the start of a new term or business cycle. Microsoft Authenticator also appeared at #6 on US overall/free, making this a concurrent rise in Microsoft apps.
Confidence: High
3. Multiple paid apps debuted directly at #1 (Cruiseman's Garage, Pocket Wiki for Terraria, and others)
Cruiseman's Garage - The App debuted on ios-lifestyle/paid at US #1, HR #2, and GB #12, while Pocket Wiki for Terraria debuted on ios-reference/paid at HR #1, DE #24, and US #71. In single markets, CineTape AIR debuted at HR ios-photo-video/paid #1, Instant Pot Recipes, offline at JP ios-food-drink/paid #1, and RED+ Sport Live Streaming at HR ios-sports/grossing #1. This also reflects the smaller pool and more volatile top ranks in paid categories, but these are the strongest material for same-day trend coverage.
Confidence: High
4. Paid finance apps in the US rose together versus the baseline (calculators, budgeting, and mortgages)
Compared with the 2026-08-24 baseline (eight days earlier), CalcTape Paper Tape Calculator #12 (+83), HomeBudget with Sync #11 (+80), Mortgage Calculator Pro #23 (+74), and Adding Machine 10Key Universal #31 (+68) all rose on US ios-finance/paid. Adding Machine 10Key iPhone, by the same developer Richard Silverman, also newly appeared at GB ios-finance/paid #5. This points to broader growth in demand for calculation and personal-budgeting tools rather than isolated app-level movement.
Confidence: High
5. Japanese game spending lifted broadly versus the baseline, with Dokkan Battle returning to #1 in overall grossing
ドラゴンボールZ ドッカンバトル, which was absent on the baseline date, is now #1 on both JP ios-games/grossing and overall/grossing. This is a typical pattern of overlapping early-month spending events and giveaways. At 82%, JP has the lowest top-10 retention rate among the six markets.
Confidence: High
6. Movement is concentrated in the lower tier: bottom has 19% new and 10.2 average movement, versus top at 2% new and 2.9
top(1–10) is nearly fixed at 84% held, 2% new, and an average movement of 2.9; mid(11–50) is 80% held, 7% new, and 7.2; bottom(51–100) is 69% held, 19% new, and 10.2. The distinction is clear: use ranks 51–100 to find new discoveries, and the top tier to discuss changes among established apps. Top-tier slots are highly concentrated, led by Google with 98, Guild of Master Craftsman Publications Ltd with 28, AMZN Mobile LLC with 24, and X Corp. with 24.
Confidence: High
7. Developer tools are strong across every market: four global top-10 regulars plus paid new entrants and sharp gainers in each country
TestFlight is #1 on ios-developer-tools/free in all six markets. On grossing, Moshi, GitHub, Termius, and Replit are all top-10 in every market. On the paid side, GatusPocket newly appeared at DE #2, gterm: Ghostty SSH at JP #3, Html Editor Plus at JP #4, and Device Information Tool at US #3, while CodeMan - VSCode reached KR #1 (+89). The category's top-10 retention rate is an average 82%, but the lower ranks turn over heavily and provide plenty of material.
Confidence: High
8. New entries are most numerous in HR/DE/US and fewest in KR, while the US has the highest retention rate
New-entry counts were HR 1029, DE 1023, US 1020, GB 938, JP 884, and KR 726. Meanwhile, top-10 retention was US 87%, KR 85%, GB/HR 84%, DE 83%, and JP 82%. KR emerges as a stable market with low inflow and a stable top tier, while HR has high inflow and a smaller chart where newcomers can more easily reach #1. For editorial targeting, HR/DE offer more immediate story potential, while US/KR are better for measuring staying power.
Confidence: High
9. Category turnover differs sharply: ios-education/ios-utilities/ios-music turn over most, while ios-social-networking is the most stable
The top three categories by new entries were ios-education (352), ios-utilities (344), and ios-music (332). By top-10 retention, ios-social-networking at 90%, ios-books at 89%, and ios-games/ios-photo-video/ios-magazines-newspapers at 88% were stable, while ios-sports at 79%, ios-business at 80%, and ios-medical at 81% were less so. In education, Manabie 学習者アプリ reached JP #4 (+73 versus both the previous run and baseline); in utilities, Morse-It reached KR #8 (+88); in music, Studio Field newly appeared at GB #9 and US #10.
Confidence: High
10. Baseline-period gains are concentrated in JP and US; DE/GB/HR/KR have no qualifying entries
In the country breakdown, only JP and US had items listed under “Sharp Gains vs. Baseline”; DE, GB, HR, and KR were all marked “—.” This does not mean those four markets were inactive. Rather, the baseline date of 2026-08-24 is only eight days earlier, and their leading-rank movements were not as large as those in JP/US. For now, the “versus previous run” metric will better reflect conditions in these four markets.
Confidence: Medium
Recommended Actions
- Make simultaneous six-market tracking of Speech to Text : Voice to Text the top priority. Whether it holds within the #42–#74 range or falls into the lower tier (where bottom is 19% new with 10.2 average movement) over the next few days will distinguish real demand from promotion. It is safer to begin a voice-input tool comparison feature after that determination.
- Combine the US ios-finance/paid calculator and budgeting apps—CalcTape #12, HomeBudget #11, Mortgage Calculator Pro #23, and Adding Machine 10Key Universal #31—into one feature. Adding Machine 10Key iPhone also newly appeared at GB #5, making a cross-English-speaking-market story about “early-month demand for budgeting and calculator tools” viable.
- Publish a JP game-spending feature today. ドラゴンボールZ ドッカンバトル is #1 on both ios-games/grossing and overall/grossing, while Shadowverse, 無職転生 クロエコ, 呪術廻戦 ファンパレ, ツムツム, and SDガンダム are all rising at once, providing strong evidence for overlapping early-month events.
- Establish a permanent developer-tools slot. TestFlight is free #1 in all six markets; Moshi/GitHub/Termius/Replit are grossing top-10 in all six; and new names appear daily on top of this stable base, including GatusPocket (DE #2), gterm: Ghostty SSH (JP #3), Device Information Tool (US #3), and CodeMan - VSCode (KR #1, +89).
- Fix the discovery monitoring range at ranks 51–100 (bottom). At 19% new and 10.2 average movement, its density of new appearances is dramatically higher than top (2% new) and mid (7% new). Conversely, reserve the top tier (84% held, with Google holding 98 slots) for coverage focused on the decline of established apps.
- Use the HR market for early detection of small hits. It had the most new inflow at 1029, and CineTape AIR, Pocket Wiki for Terraria, and RED+ Sport Live Streaming all debuted at #1. Because the chart is smaller, newcomers can more readily reach the top; build a workflow to check whether names emerging here spread to DE/GB/US a few days later.
- Formalize the baseline-date label as an operating rule. The current baseline is 2026-08-24 (eight days earlier and the oldest date in the archive), so describe it in reports as “vs. baseline date (8 days)” rather than “monthly.” Switch to monthly wording only once 30 days of archived data have accumulated.
Data Quality Notes
Collection is complete. On 2026-09-01, 468 charts and 45,712 rows were collected against the configured schedule of 468 charts, with zero missing charts. Comparisons with the previous run on 2026-08-31 also succeeded for all 468/468 charts, with no charts that could not be compared. Therefore, every “new entrant” in today’s report is confirmed as new after verifying that the same chart was collected in the previous run; rows from charts absent in the previous run were not counted as new. There are two limitations. First, the monthly baseline date, 2026-08-24, is the earliest collection date in the archive and only eight days earlier. Although this is called “monthly,” it effectively reflects about one week of change and cannot be interpreted as a full monthly trend. The blank baseline-gain fields for DE/GB/HR/KR in the country breakdown are also influenced by this short time span. Second, rating data is missing for 228,558 records, and this report makes no judgments whatsoever based on ratings. It relies only on chart rank, rank changes, and presence or absence.
